CHAPTER TEN

She stood motionlessly before the fridge, staring indecisively at the stainless steel monstrosity, as if it might hold the answers to all her problems within it’s closed doors. Pity party ice cream, or pain numbing liquor. It was a tough choice, and the wine won by a narrow margin. She didn’t even bother to grab a glass, promising herself she’d buy her friend a replacement bottle tomorrow.

She fumbled about in various kitchen drawers until at last she located the holy grail, a cork screw. After she’d popped the lid, she took a big swig and carried the bottle back to the couch in the living room. She propped her feet up on the table and wondered how much alcohol she’d need to chug before she stopped hurting inside.

She’d never been drunk before, but she felt like tonight was the perfect time to give it a go. She was primarily a social drinker, and she’d never indulged in more than a glass at a time before, so she was already starting to feel a slight buzz. She took another pull from the bottle, wondering how she, a formerly strong independent young woman had been reduced so easily to a sobbing wretch of a human being. She was rapidly on her way to becoming drunk, and so lost in her own thoughts that she didn’t initially detect the sound of knocking at the front door.

Even after she heard it, it took her booze addled mind a few moments to piece together what the thundering sound meant. She tried to stand, finally succeeding after the third attempt. She made her wobbly way towards the door, leaning her head against the trim as she fumbled with the deadbolt. She was baffled at the thought of her friend returning so soon after she’d left. She must have really lost track of the time if multiple hours had passed. But it wasn’t Allie standing in the doorway.

“You,” she slurred accusingly, trying to close the door in his face. But even if she hadn’t been inebriated her strength would have been no match for his. He shouldered the door open, forcing his way into the room with her, and slamming the door shut behind him.

“Why the hell didn’t you answer your phone?” he shouted worriedly, pulling her in roughly for a hug, thrilled to see that his fears of attacking leopards had been mercifully unfounded.

“Don’t touch me!” she blurted out loudly, swatting angrily at his ripped arms.

All her squirming had managed to do was to send blood racing down, filling his needy shaft until it was thoroughly engorged. His member twitched as if protesting the constrictive layers of clothing, begging to bury itself deep within her tight channel, longing to pulse powerfully and release within her. He could feel her mating mark calling out to him like a beacon. He pressed his lips to hers and she was so sweet that he felt like he was sipping straight from the bottle of wine she was clutching.
